tickets redYou’re invited!  Reception begins at 6pm.  The B.E.S.T. Series Brings Ellijay Sensational Talent and you can come learn about this season’s shows!  Members are able to buy discounted tickets at the reception before they go on sale to the public. Members receive a discount on the tickets and an additional discount on season tickets. This is also a great time to come join or renew.

Open Studio Class Aug. 29th 10-Noon

Professional fine artist and travel teaching artist Prof. Mark Menendez will be your personal “Art Coach” and offers over 30 years’ experience teaching with quick wit, patience and generous encouragement.  This is an open studio class … work on your own project at your own pace, bring your own supplies and subject matter.  All media: oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, pencils … all subjects and styles.   Receive individual coaching as well as group demonstrations.  Beginning to professional artists welcome!

Kids of all ages will learn to express themselves through painting, and have fun doing it.  Step-by-step instruction will be provided using acrylic paints.  Children will go home with a finished 11″ x 14″work of art!  Ages 5-17 ~ $23 Includes all Materials

Don’t miss this special chance to learn “Basic Italic Calligraphy” from professional calligrapher Patsy Schmidt who’s been teaching for over 20 years!  Learn to create beautiful invitations, cards, address envelopes and more. Class will be on 4 Mondays starting Sept. 8th at 10am-Noon.  6 Supply Fee covers a basic slant-tip calligraphy pen and papers needed for class.  Hurry and enroll today! Minimum enrollments and spaces are limited.  Ages 12+

Oil painting is great fun and anyone can do it!  Instructor Kathy Mock has been painting for over 40 years and will guide you as you create your painting of a gorgeous Southern Magnolia.  You will learn everything from the preparation of the canvas through completion of your painting.  $5 Supply Fee per class will provide you with a palette of paints to use and you may borrow brushes. Pot luck lunch – bring a small dish to share. Class minimums apply so enroll now at 706-635-5605.

Gilmer Arts community outreach has partnered with the Gilmer Senior Center to offer a project-based art program designed to meet the needs of “senior seniors”.  Class is held at the Senior Center on 2nd Wednesdays most months.  Next class is September 10th.  The Senior Center is located at 111 N. Gilmer St.  Students may enroll by calling the Senior Center at (706) 635-7688.

express yourself2Step by step instructions for anyone, we can do it together!  All materials included and you’ll leave with a finished acrylic painting on canvas!  This is a really fun opportunity to see what you can do, even if you always thought you couldn’t draw or paint!  Mature teens are also welcome.  $28/$25 Members.

So you’ve learned how to play an acoustic instrument (guitar, banjo, dulcimer, fiddle, bass, autoharp etc).  Now what? 

Move toward performing by learning to play with others in a no-stress environment.  Bring your instrument & song ideas to our “First Level” Sessions.  Develop stage presence & build confidence while having fun & making new friends.  All skill levels welcome, but this is designed for those who can play at least basic chords and songs.  Free Class.  Grab a bite after and come back to hear Acoustic Blends at 7pm.
